Who We Are:

LifeWorks, aka Hearts and Hands Adult Day Services, is a family-owned Alaska company with a happy vibe. We've been serving Southcentral Alaskans since 1999. We provide recreational and therapeutic activities for the elderly and adults experiencing physical or mental disabilities. We believe in a work-life balance, lending a hand to others, keeping folks active, and being role models for positive social stimulation. We are currently in need of an Activity Facilitator (AF) to round out our team.

The world of an Activity Facilitator:

-Transport and escort clients between their homes and the Activity Center using a company-supplied van

-With other members of the team, escort small groups of clients to parks, shopping centers, museums, bowling alleys, and other public venues in the community

-Serve snacks, meals, and drinks to the members

-Assist clients with personal hygiene

-Safely and responsibly operate company van

-Facilitate and engage members in educational and therapeutic activities such as physical exercises, board games, memory stimulation exercises, music therapy, and reading

-Help coordinate social activities to guarantee that the day-to-day interaction with clients is constructive

-Maintain current records and accurately keep documentation for each member

Requirements:

-Experience in caring for those with special needs, disabilities, and/or elderly individuals.

-Excellent communication skills.

-Ability to relate to and collaborate with coworkers.

-Ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.

-AF candidates must be able to safely lift at least 50 pounds; have sufficient strength, balance, and agility to move around and work in the day center environment (up and down stairs, inside vans, in ADA-compliant bathrooms, etc) and at outside venues

-For insurance purposes, the AF candidate must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of 5 years of driving experience.

-The ideal candidate will work well with other team members, have a solid work ethic, and be able to come up with creative solutions "on the fly." An enthusiastic and engaging demeanor is a big plus.

-All candidates MUST be able to pass a background check, driving record check, and a pre-employment drug test.

Why Should You Apply?

-Great pay. Training wage is a minimum of $18.00 per hour, depending on your experience level.

- Full-time, permanent employees are offered VACATION and HOLIDAY pay as well as a 3% employer-matching RETIREMENT program.

- Full-time employees are offered healthcare benefits after 30 days.

- Work hours are generally Monday-Friday (and some Saturdays), 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM

You have been convicted of a crime that bars you from employment in an elder care setting.
