PLANT MAINTENANCE ASSOCIATE (Waco, Corsicana, Frankston, TX)

Big Creek Construction is looking to hire a Plant Maintenance Associate for the Ready Mix Plants in Waco, Corsicana and Frankston

The Plant Maintenance Associate is responsible for the safe repair, maintenance, and fabrication of all mining equipment typically found in a Sand/Aggregate mining facility including pumps, conveyors, bucket elevators, screen decks, cyclones, dust collectors, dryer drums, silos, etc.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Aggregates (Sand) mining experience is a plus

Experience with welding, fabricating, and belt splicing

Knowledge of Aggregate/Sand plant equipment including hoppers, feeders, conveyors, bucket elevators, cyclones, screens, dryers, and silos

Ability to use various hand tools and equipment as necessary

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Mobile equipment operation skills including but not limited to scissor lifts, boom lifts, material handlers, and forklifts

Familiarity with mine site safety rules and regulations (MSHA)

Basic computer skills

Punctual, reliable, and able to work irregular and extended hours and weekends

Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain) for extended hours including entire shifts

Able to lift 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally, climb stairs/ladders, work at extreme heights and in confined spaces, and walk on uneven or rough terrain

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Specific

Visually inspect the plant for excessive wear or changes to identify misalignments and failing parts.

Remove bags in silo filter vent and dust collector and clean or replace to meet air quality standards.

Perform alignment, adjustments, tightening, splicing or replacing of conveyor belts as well as adjusting or replacing skirt-boards and conveyor seals as needed.

Inspect tension on all V-drive belts to ensure equipment runs optimally.

Inspect, replace, and install guards to ensure they are in place for the safety of our Associates.

Schedule and coordinate equipment repairs and preventative maintenance to minimize plant and equipment downtime.

Perform plant equipment repairs, rebuilds, and equipment installations.

Lubricate all bearings including head and tail pulleys on all conveyors. Grease or replace bearings on bucket elevators.

Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify solutions.

Communicate with teams daily in person, via the phone or at team meetings to address needs, deadlines, and provide updates on current projects in each area.

Fabrication of mechanical components needed to maintain an efficient, productive, and safe production environment.

Use maintenance software to requisition parts, order parts, report labor, document equipment history, and complete work orders timely and accurately.

Complete pre-shift inspections on all mobile equipment such as manlift, material handler, crane, forklift, and utility vehicles before use and operate in a safe manner.

Follow all safety requirements including wearing appropriate PPE (harness and fall protection gear and respirators)

Standard REQUIRMENTS

Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical

Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Be able to work overtime and weekends when required
